The Finnish Perinatological Society was founded in 1975. The purpose of the society is to promote education and scientific research related to pregnancy, childbirth and newborn care. The society also promotes the interests of these patients.
Our multi-professional society consists of obstetricians, pediatricians, midwives and neonatal nurses. Currently, the society has 666 members, of which 60% are doctors and 40% are nurses. The chairperson of the association is obstetrician Hilkka Nikkinen (MD, PhD) from Oulu University Hospital (hilkka.nikkinen@oulu.fi )
The society organizes several educational activities every year and maintains the national emergency training program for obstetrics and newborns. An exhibition is often organized in connection with the meetings. For questions related to the exhibition, you can contact coordinator Tarja Junttila (tarja.junttila@duodecim.fi).
